Two people were killed and four were injured Friday night in a head-on crash on Interstate 494 in Bloomington.

The crash happened just before 8:30 p.m. when a 1998 Jeep westbound on Hwy. 5 entered the ramp to 494 and was hit head-on by a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu traveling the wrong way (eastbound in the westbound lanes) on 494. The collision happened in the right lane of westbound 494.

The driver of the Jeep, Dawn M. Chiodo, 51, of Bloomington, and a passenger in her vehicle, Dylan M. Bailey, 24, of Bloomington, were killed. Three other passengers in the Jeep suffered serious injuries: Jennifer L. Nord, 50, of Richfield; Olivia R. Nord, 18, of Richfield, and Payton Bailey, 2, of Bloomington.

The driver of the Chevy going the wrong way, Patrick J. Hayes, 34, of Savage, suffered noncritical injuries.

All involved were wearing seat belts, the patrol said. No alcohol was detected in Chiodo, but the patrol has not yet said whether it was detected in Hayes. The crash remains under investigation.
