Two people were found dead in a parked vehicle in north Minneapolis, and police said Sunday they suspect the two were victims of a drug overdose.

Officers were on a "priority" call Friday night when they first passed the vehicle in the 2900 block of 3rd Street N., which runs parallel to Interstate 94, said police spokesman John Elder.

Once the initial call was handled, the officers "went back to check on them and found them both to be deceased," Elder said.

"There were no signs of obvious trauma, no blood and no other obvious reason" for their death, the spokesman said, explaining why "the preliminary thought is ... drugs."

Identification of the two and further details about their deaths will come from the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.
