There's a contemporary art explosion happening at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Here are several pieces that you'll want to put on your radar.

Contemporary art curator Gabe Ritter recently acquired these three pieces:

"Double Still Life" by Katy Cowan (2015)
Watercolor, gouache, permanent marker, pastels, latex paint, oil stain and clearcoat on wood

"Retina #27 (Active Volcano)" by Shinro Ohtake (1990–91)
Cloth adhesive tape and resin on laminated chromogenic analog print mounted on wooden panel

"Untitled" by Hisachika Takahashi (1967)
Synthetic paint on canvas

Photography/new media curator Yasufumi Nakamori picked up these works:
