A 7-year-old girl drowned Sunday at a lake in Bloomington, authorities said.

Onlookers at the crowded East Bush Lake beach saw the girl struggling, a witness said.

Lifeguards on duty at the beach tried to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead when she arrived at Children's Hospital of Minneapolis.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office will release her name and official cause of death.

The girl was at least the third drowning victim in the metro area over the weekend.

A woman on a pontoon boat outing with about a dozen people drowned in Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka on Saturday evening. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified her late Sunday as Nitaya Keodouangdy, 35, of Mounds View. Searchers that included a dive team found her body hours after she disappeared under the water.

An investigation into her death continues.

Another woman was pulled from Summit Park Beach on Long Lake in Orono earlier in the day Saturday.
