All-Metro dance, adapted sports, synchronized swimming teams honored

Meet three metro-area high school teams that excelled during the recently completed school year to earn distinction as Star Tribune All-Metro champion teams. They will be honored along with our long-standing Metro Players of the Year and first-team members in other sports at our first All-Metro Sports Award gala June 26 at Target Field.

Eastview dance team

The team won the Class 3A high-kick championship in February and finished second in the jazz team competition. Regarded as one of the state's premier dance team programs, the Lightning won both Class 3A divisions in 2016 and 2017.

Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound-Westonka adapted sports, physically impaired division

The Robins were the only team in the state to reach the PI division championship game of the adapted soccer, floor hockey and softball tournaments. Earlier this month they won the adapted softball title, their eighth since 2009.

Wayzata synchronized swimming team

Perhaps Minnesota's most unheralded high school dynasty, the Trojans won their 12th consecutive synchronized swimming state title last month.
