Lakeville police are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found dead outside a liquor store Tuesday morning.

Police were called to Lakeville Liquors around 5:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a man wearing a hat and jeans lying in the grass adjacent to the walking path near the intersection of 160th Street and Galaxie Avenue S., police said.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Police said that there were no signs of trauma and that the death did not appear to have been the result of a traffic-related incident.

"While the death is suspicious due to the location of the body, police are exploring the possibility of an accidental overdose," police said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear how long the body had been there.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Hennepin County medical examiner.
