Foul play is not suspected in the death of Costa, 32, who was found in his vehicle, said Sgt. Brandon Silgjord of the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
Costa was last seen Friday night in Superior, Wis. He was reported missing when he didn't show up for duty Saturday morning with the Minnesota National Guard.
"Him not showing up to drill was very unlike him," Silgjord said.
Costa was devoted to the military, Silgjord said. Costa worked in the restaurant business and had just gotten a new job Friday night. He had played trivia in Duluth and later went to a bar in Superior.
