Rush City woman dies in St. Louis County crash

A central Minnesota woman was killed in a broadside crash early Friday in St. Louis County, authorities said.

Mary D. Gonzalez, 47, of Rush City, Minn., was a passenger in a car trying to cross Hwy. 70 from southbound County Road 23 at about 1:30 a.m. when a pickup truck heading east slammed into it.

Austin Wolters, 23, of Janesville, Wis., who was driving the truck, was treated for noncritical injuries at Hayward Hospital in Wisconsin.

The driver of the car, Garrett Stevens, 25, of Rush City, was treated for noncritical injuries at Regions in St. Paul. Alcohol was detected in Stevens' system, the State Patrol said.
