The parent firm of Andersen Windows and Doors has acquired a Quebec-based company that will give the company its first presence in Europe.
Luxury window and door manufacturer Fenêtres MQ Inc. employs 70 people and has factories in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Canada, and near Venice, Italy.
Terms of the deal to buy the 42-year-old privately held company were not released.
"We are pleased," Andersen CEO Jay Lund said in a statement. "The acquisition of MQ expands Andersen's product portfolio, increases our manufacturing capabilities and our geographic reach."
MQ caters to the luxury residential and commercial markets and is known for its historic renovations and work making complex and large windows and doors.
It manufactures products using wood, steel and vinyl, but also aluminum or bronze.
The offerings significantly expand Andersen's offerings in the luxury arena.
MQ's founder and President Gilles Morin has joined Andersen as part of the deal and will continue to oversee the MQ business, Lund said.
