Dance spotlight: The perils of preoccupation, translated into dance at Intermedia
Thursday-Saturday: When you begin to drive a car or a bicycle, you learn about the phenomenon of target fixation. Look too closely at that billboard, and you'll find yourself driving off the road. Choreographer Jennifer Glaws takes a look at the perils that can await humans and other creatures of the natural world when they become too preoccupied with one thing in this full-length work. Performers Emma Barber, Lindsay Bullock, Non Edwards and Susanne Grochett use highly physical movement that explores how we pay attention, or not, in the world. The work comes out of a year-and-a-half project looking into the choreographic process and how to achieve embodiment in dance. (7:30 p.m. Thu.-Sat., Intermedia Arts, 2822 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls., $8-$15 Thu., $12-$20 Fri.-Sat., study1.brownpapertickets.com.)
