Which was worse: The Who's 2006 concert at the X or Roger Daltrey's performance Tuesday at Target Center?

As I was writing my review last night at Target Center, I kept asking myself that question. In 2006, the Who frontman was fighting "terrible bronchitis" (his words) and he was vaguely apologetic, saying, "I'm going to make this night up to you." On Tuesday, he made no excuses but just sounded ragged during his performance of "Tommy."

Let's do a comparison, sort of the Who by numbers:

2006: 12,000 people paying as much as $200 for a 95-minute performance (which was 25 minutes shorter than gigs at other cities on that tour and free of "Tommy" songs)

2011: maybe 3,000 people paying as much as $125 for a 140-minute performance, with the first half ("Tommy") unsatisfying and second half rewarding.

Final verdict: 2006 was worse.

Here is what Daltrey performed Tuesday:

Tommy: Overture/ It's a Boy/ 1921/ Amazing Journey/ Sparks/ Eyesight to the Blind/ Christmas/ Cousin Kevin/ The Acid Queen/ [Daltrey didn't perform Underture because he said in an interview that he thinks it's superfluous, that it was padding to fill out the sides of an LP] Do You Think It's Alright/ Fiddle About/ Pinball Wizard/ There's a Doctor/ Go to the Mirror/ Tommy Can You Hear Me/ Smash the Mirror/ Sensation/ I'm Free/ Miracle Cure/ Sally Simpson/ Welcome/ Tommy's Holiday Camp/ We're Not Gonna Take It/ {then it was a new set w/o an intermission] I Can See for Miles/ The Kids Are Alright/ Behind Blue Eyes/ Days of Light/ Going Mobile/ medley of Johnny Cash songs/ Who Are You/ My Generation/ Young Man Blues/ Baba O'Riley/ Without Your Love/ Blue Red and Grey
