Vikings quarterback Brett Favre said he still hasn't decided whether he will play again next season and made it clear a decision will take a while, according to a report from the Associated Press.

Favre, appearing on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, told the host he's not going to say anything anytime soon and that he plans to sit back and enjoy the offseason. Asked for his thoughts about playing in 2010, Favre said: "Well Jay, it's only been a month, and I know now that I'm just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason."

The comments were Favre's first since the Vikings' 31-28 overtime loss to New Orleans on Jan. 24 in the NFC title game. Favre retired after the 2007 and 2008 seasons only to decide he wanted to return. Last season, Favre did not join the Vikings until late August, after the team had broken training camp in Mankato.

His comments couldn't have surprised the Vikings. Coach Brad Childress said last week at the NFL Scouting Combine there is no timetable for Favre to make a decision on his future.

Favre, who will turn 41 next October and spent the majority of his career with the Vikings' arch-rivals in Green Bay, has played 19 NFL seasons. He took a beating in the loss to New Orleans. Favre told Leno that he thinks the loss at New Orleans will bother him for a "long time."

Added Favre: "Obviously had we gone to the Super Bowl that would have been the icing on the cake, but it was way better than even I could have dreamed of. I've told people, I really believe my biggest accomplishment this year was winning over the majority of the Vikings fans. For so many years I was hated."

The interview with Favre will appear in the Twin Cities on KARE (Ch. 11) at 10:35 p.m. Thursday, following the local news.
