Five-mile stretch of I-694 in north metro to close overnight Tuesday
Drivers on I-35E in Forest Lake will also face an overnight detour.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will put up a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge over I-694 at Main Street in Fridley Tuesday night, but to do so it will shut down the freeway.
From 10 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday, both directions of I-694 will be closed between I-94/Hwy. 252 and I-35W.
During the closure, eastbound traffic will be directed north on Hwy. 252 then east on Hwys. 610 and 10 and south on I-35W. Westbound traffic will be sent north on I-35W, then west on Hwys. 10 and 610, then south on Hwy. 252.
In the northeast metro, the southbound lanes of I-35E will be closed at the Forest Lake split starting at 10:30 p.m. for overhead sign repair. Drivers will be detoured south on I-35W, then east on I-694,the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.
The freeway is expected to reopen in time for Wednesday's morning rush hour.
The pilot was the only person inside the plane, and was not injured in the emergency landing, according to the State Patrol.
