Denver, the defending NCAA champion, upset No. 1 St. Cloud State 4-2 on Friday night in NCHC hockey in the Mile High City.
Friday's college hockey roundup: Third-ranked Denver hands No. 1 St. Cloud State first loss
Jared Lukosevicius' power-play goal at 40 seconds of the third period gave the No. 3 Pioneers (5-2-2, 1-2 NCHC) a 3-1 lead. Blake Winiecki of the Huskies scored a 6-on-4 goal with 1:02 left, but Denver got an empty-netter from Henrik Borgstrom for the final margin. Both Lukosevicius and Borgstrom had two goals.
Minnesota Duluth 3, Western Michigan 0: Avery Peterson scored two third-period goals, one on a power play, and Hunter Shepard stopped 22 shots as the No. 12 Bulldogs beat the No. 18 Broncos at Amsoil Arena.
North Dakota 4, Miami (Ohio) 1: Nick Jones had two goals and Grant Mismash a goal and an assist to lead the host Fighting Hawks over the RedHawks.

Notre Dame 5, Penn State 3: Dawson Cook's goal midway through the third period was the game-winner as No. 6 Irish beat the Nittany Lions. No. 19 Penn State had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 and tied the score at 3-all on Andrew Sturtz's goal late in the second period. Cale Morris stopped 40 shots for the Irish, Peyton Jones 14 for the Nittany Lions.
Wisconsin 6, Michigan State 3: The No. 7 Badgers took a 3-0 lead in the first period, and weathered a Spartans two-goal rally for a convincing road win. Wyatt Kalynuk, Ryan Wagner, Tarke Baker and Cameron Hughes each had a goal and an assist for Wisconsin.
Ohio State 5, Connecticut 4: Christian Lampasso's goal in the eighth minute of the third period put the visiting Buckeyes ahead 5-3 and they held on vs. UConn. Matthew Weis had two goals and one assist for No. 17 Ohio State.

MSU Mankato 5, Bemidji St. 2: Marc Michaelis scored twice in the second period and added an empty-net goal in the third for a hat trick to lead the visiting No. 10 Mavericks over the Beavers.
