Lottery ticket buyers in the state were offered a new option Tuesday, a scratch game with a Vikings theme being launched in anticipation of the NFL team's new stadium opening.

The purple and gold scratch ticket, which features scenes of U.S. Bank Stadium, pays instant cash prizes up to $100,000 and includes a second-chance contest to win Vikings tickets and other gridiron goodies.

"With the added excitement surrounding the Vikings season this year, we anticipate the Minnesota Vikings scratch game to be one of the most successful scratch games in lottery history," Minnesota Lottery Marketing Director Jason LaFrenz said in a statement.

This is the second Vikings-themed scratch game offered by the lottery. The first, which began in 2010, quickly became the lottery's top-selling scratch game.

Nonwinning tickets can be entered at mnlottery.com for the chance to win 2017 season tickets, a road trip to Green Bay for a game against the Packers, a VIP gameday experience, Vikings merchandise and other prizes.
