Minneapolis teen convicted of killing girlfriend with shot to head
Ahmed Abdi, who marked his 19th birthday in jail last week, was convicted last week in Hennepin County District Court of second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Ayan Abdulahi, on April 11, 2015.
A sentencing date has not been set for Abdi.
Abdi, who was 17 at the time of the killing, shot Abdulahi in the head while she was lying on a bed in Abdi's room in the 2400 block of Portland Avenue S.
A relative who lived with Abdi heard the shooting and saw him run out the back door.
Authorities tracked down Abdi and arrested him about two weeks later in Kansas City.
