Twin Cities station KMSP, Channel 9, has promoted from within to fill its news director job.

Marian Davey, the Fox affiliate's assistant news director for the past decade, will take over for Bill Dallman, who left earlier this summer to help launch the new cable channel Fox Sports 1.

Davey began her career as an intern at WCCO, Channel 4, and rose through the ranks to become managing editor. She spent 14 years at 'CCO before joining Fox-9 in 2002, first as managing editor, then as assistant news director.

"Mim has strengthened our news product, led our expansion efforts to nearly 50 hours a week, and has executed tremendous digital growth," said Carol Rueppel, Fox-9's general manager, in a statement Monday. She has been an integral part of our station's progress over the past 11 years and earned this role as leader of our news team."

Among her highlights are the fozens of Regional Emmys won by KMSP's investigative unit, which she has supervised since 2008.
