A woman from Hill City, Minn., died Monday morning in a rollover crash on a snow- and ice-covered highway in northwest Aitkin County, the State Patrol said.

Lorene Weimer, 64, was driving south on Hwy. 169 near milepost 275 at 6:52 a.m. when her 2006 Ford Escape left the slippery highway, rolled and landed on its roof in 3 feet of water, the patrol said.

Weimer, who was wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Monday's mix of rain, slush and snow that fell across a large swath of Minnesota turned roads slick. Between midnight and 4:30 p.m. Monday, the patrol responded to 109 crashes and 124 vehicles that spun out or slid off the road statewide.

Weimer was the lone fatality reported Monday, but there were 10 injuries, the patrol said.
