Two arrests were made Sunday in the shooting death of Da'Seion Pugh, the 19-year-old St. Paul man who was killed on Saturday afternoon on Aurora Avenue in St. Paul, authorities said.

A man and a juvenile male were taken into custody early Sunday, according to Sgt. Mike Ernster, spokesman for the St. Paul Police Department.

Pugh, who had recently graduated from Tartan High School in Oakdale, was shot between a multiunit residence and a tennis court on the 200 block of Aurora Avenue, near Marion Street.

Friends and family, who gathered in the shadow of the Capitol to mourn Pugh on Saturday night, said he was an artist who was preparing for community college. He wanted to study engineering.

Just over two months ago, another homicide occurred in nearly the same spot.

On April 16, Tyrese Santell Borney, 36, was shot to death in an alley outside an apartment building at the site. A St. Paul man was arrested and questioned in connection with that shooting, but no one has been charged.
