In just a couple of months, the publicly owned suite at Target Field has become a success with charities and school organizations, the Minnesota Ballpark Authority learned Thursday.

At its quarterly meeting, the MBA also heard about the Twins' plans to improve the main concourse in the off-season.

The MBA, the public oversight panel at taxpayer-owned Target Field, decided earlier this year to use its public suite exclusively for charities after revelations of suite misuse across downtown at U.S. Bank Stadium, where the Vikings play.

Since the announcement shortly after the beginning of the 81-game home season, 46 organizations have booked the suite, administrative manager Susie Helget told the board. Several dates remain for this year, and inquiries already are coming for next year, she said.

The MBA owns Suite 49 above left field; it's attached to staff offices. The suite comes with 24 tickets.

On a separate matter, the MBA gave initial approval to the Twins' plans to widen the main concourse between gates 29 and 34. The team also will reconfigure concessions areas to ease congestion.

The team also plans enhancements to the Metropolitan Club, adding "large operable windows" that open to the field, as well as a stairwell and elevator providing access to the main concourse. The club is in the corner above the juncture of the third-base line and right field. Gates 29 and 34 are on that corner below the club.

The Twins plan to make the changes in the upcoming off-season and will submit detailed plans as well as a budget for approval before starting the work.
