On Tuesday, Feb. 14, urban planner Gil Penalosa will visit Gordon Parks High School in St. Paul, as well as a nearby park that is being developed. Penalosa is the founder of 8 80 Cities, the inspiration behind St. Paul's Vibrant Places and Spaces initiative and its $40 million 8 80 Vitality Fund iniative.

Gordon Park High School is located near the Green Line light rail transit route and in an area that "is poised for a vibrancy makeover," city officials said. Penalosa will be at the school from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. He will be joined by Jenna Fletcher, Trust for Public Land program director, and Dai Thao, St. Paul City Council member for Ward 1.

Penalosa, an urban planner based in Canada, "says St. Paul is a shining example of a city that is doing it right – creating a livable city where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities are safe, invigorated and welcomed by their community," officials said Monday.
