Minneapolis police were looking for a man suspected of fatally shooting a woman in the parking lot of a north Minneapolis strip mall Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the mall, which houses a Walgreens, a Subway sandwich shop and a Family Dollar store, just after 1 p.m. on a report of a shooting, according to police spokesman Corey Schmidt.

They found the woman suffering from several gunshot wounds. She was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where she died.

The man fled after the shooting. Schmidt said the suspect and victim knew each other, but he did not have details on their relationship.

Police were finishing up their investigation at the scene Friday evening, and the stores remained open.

Police said the shooting followed a disturbance in a business. Surveillance video from all businesses in the area will be examined, Schmidt said.

The woman's death marked the city's 10th slaying of 2017, and the second in two days.

Around midday Thursday, a man was shot to death in the 3700 block of N. 6th Street.

Hennepin County sheriff's deputies who were in the area heard gunshots and saw a vehicle speeding away. They stopped the car and arrested the driver and a passenger; another passenger fled on foot but was later found. Several handguns were found in the vehicle, police said.

The name of Thursday's victim, who was shot in the chest, has not yet been released.
