Brooklyn Park police say a teenager arrested in an attempted sexual assault Friday is also behind a similar incident from last month at a grocery store.
Officers arrived just before 12:30 p.m. Friday to a park in the 5900 block of 65th Avenue N., where a 20-year-old woman told police that she had been attacked. She said the suspect tried to sexually assault her but she was able to fight him off.
The suspect fled on foot and was chased by the woman's uncle, according to police. The teen then went into a nearby home but was kicked out by the people living there.
Police say the woman and her uncle detained the suspect, allowing officers to arrest him. Authorities believe he is the same teenager who allegedly tried to kidnap and rape a woman last month at a Brooklyn Park Aldi grocery store. She was able to escape and call 911.
The suspect is in custody awaiting charges, according to authorities.
