With a little grinding, sanding and tender loving care, a bronze statue that was slightly damaged when it was stolen from an Edina park last week has been doctored up and put back on display.

The statue called "Dreams Take Flight" was reinstalled Monday in the northeast corner of Centennial Lakes Park and heavily fortified so it won't be carted away again, said its creator Nick Legeros.

"All is now right with the world," he said.

The statue, which depicts a young girl playing with a toy Boeing 747, pays tribute to Donald Nyrop, an Edina resident and former CEO of Minnesota-based Northwest Airlines. It was valued at $25,000.

The statue was found dumped in the front yard of a residence on the 7200 block of Columbus Avenue S. in Richfield. A $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of people responsible is still active, said city spokeswoman Kaylin Eidsness.
