F/C Janel McCarville scored a season-high nine points in 18 minutes Sunday. Sparks F/C Candace Parker, who is averaging 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, had 24 points and 11 rebounds in the victory over Phoenix. F Nneka Ogwumike, the 2012 WNBA Rookie of the Year, leads the Sparks in scoring (17.6 points per game) and rebounding (8.8 per game). Ogwumike, who leads the league in shooting percentage (69.2) set a WNBA record last week by making 23 consecutive shots over a three-game span.
Numbers: The Sparks were 3-13 without Parker in the lineup last season, while she rested after playing overseas.
