A man was found early Tuesday shot to death on a sidewalk in Red Wing, and police say they have a suspect identified but have yet to arrest that person.

The victim was identified by police as Dangelo Masterjohn, 27, of Red Wing. Police were alerted shortly after midnight to him being unconscious in the 400 block of Sanderson Street.

"The incident is being investigated as a homicide," said Police Chief Roger Pohlman.

The chief also said investigators have identified a suspect, and that person is not a fugitive.

"There is no indication of an ongoing threat to the community," Pohlman said.

Police have yet to address a motive for the shooting or say anything more about the suspect.

In September 2013, Masterjohn's involvement in a gang-related murder in a St. Paul alley led to him being sentenced in Ramsey County to 30 days in the workhouse and three years of probation for aiding an offender to avoid arrest.
