Elderly man killed, wife injured in north Minneapolis house fire
A firefighter battling the blaze suffered an injured hand.
Crews responded to the fire at the small home in the 4000 block of Russell Avenue N. around 6 p.m. and found the couple inside.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was taken to an area hospital, authorities said.
The house, located a few blocks west of Crystal Lake Cemetery, was equipped with a wheelchair ramp for the man who lived there.
The fire remains under investigation, said assistant fire chief Bryan Tyner.
The blaze appears to have started in the bedroom, he said.
It was the fourth fatal fire in Minnesota this month. All have occurred in the past week.
