Teen shot Sunday in south Minneapolis dies

A 17-year-old male who was shot Sunday afternoon in south Minneapolis has died, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

The teen was shot about 2:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of 10th Avenue South. A vehicle sped away from the scene after the shooting, police said.

The victim, who has not yet been identified by authorities, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center; he died there on Monday, according to Sgt. Catherine Michal, spokeswoman for the Minneapolis Police Department. No arrests have been made.

The shooting took place near Village Market, a popular Somali-American shopping mall, but the victim was not of East African descent, Michal said Monday.
