Minnesota Vikings: Mike Zimmer's last word

Mike Zimmer can be grumpy. And sometimes he can be grumpy for all of the right reasons.

Mike Zimmer did not sound happy with his starters on Sunday night.

First-team offense: ``We started out the game with two negative plays and it kind of kept going from there."

The 46-yard touchdown catch by the 49ers' Marquise Goodwin: ``We didn't cover the guy."

The first-team offensive line: ``I thought it was sporadic tonight."

The effort shown by the backups during the comeback: ``I would hope that we would do that."

Zimmer can be grumpy. And sometimes he can be grumpy for all of the right reasons.

As I said in my column, it's always dangerous to interpret preseason performances. But it wasn't difficult to interpret Zimmer's mood late Sunday night.
