MPR News has received a prestigious Peabody Award for its podcast series on the death of Philando Castile in Falcon Heights and the subsequent trial of officer Jeronimo Yanez.

"74 Seconds" was cited by judges for putting "a human face on the tragedy, providing context for the legal and political struggles that followed with exellent on-the-spot reporting and a balanced approach to understanding both men involved in the event."

The Peabody committee revealed its winners Tuesday morning in the news, radio/podcast and public service categories.

An Institutional Award was also given to "60 Minutes" for being a "touchstone in American life."

The awards will be officially presented May 19 in New York during a ceremony hosted by comedian Hasan Minhaj in New York.
