Sad news in the North Loop: HauteDish has closed. Monday was its last day.

"After seven years of serving the local community, we are closing our doors effective immediately," said owner David Walters. "We are grateful for the opportunity to have served our customers with a unique take on Minnesota cuisine."

The maverick restaurant, located at 119 Washington Av. N. (that's the restaurant's beauty of a bar, in a provided photo) was known for its playful, contemporary takes on classic favorites: pork and beans, mac-and-cheese and, of course, Tater Tot hot dish, as well as one of the city's more adventurous brunches, and a talked-about burger.

"Our closing isn't an inherently sad thing," said Walters."To say goodbye to something you have worked for for seven years is tough, but the future looks good."
