Zurek, Barbara A. age 62, our loving wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Hays and Carol (Flatten) Hays, and is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Dr. John Zurek, her daughter, Dr. Lauren Zurek and son, Andrew Zurek, stepchildren, Melanie Zurek (Andrew Gelling) and Brian Zurek, granddaughter, Ella Gelling, siblings, Nancy Hays and Jim Hays, and many nieces and nephews. Barb graduated from Patrick Henry High School and remained a staunch supporter of the North Minneapolis community. She obtained a degree in nursing from Metropolitan State University and worked as a registered nurse at North Memorial Medical Center. She went on to study at William Mitchell School of Law and joined the law firm of Meagher & Geer in 1991 where she became a recognized and successful malpractice attorney. Barb was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2007 and in 2017 was named for the 13th time to the Top 100 Lawyers in Minnesota. Barb will be remembered as a fierce advocate for her clients, a generous and loyal friend, and most importantly, a loving wife and mother. A visitation service will be held on Monday, April 2nd from 5-8pm at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church (15600 Old Rockford Rd. Plymouth, MN). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd at 1pm at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church followed by interment at 4:30pm at Crystal Lake Cemetery (3816 Penn Avenue North Minneapolis, MN). In lieu of flowers, a scholarship memorial fund has been established -- checks and donations to The Mitchell Hamline School of Law Barbara A.
