This was where the Lynx really missed Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen.
Offensive malfunction dooms the Lynx in the end
Slew of turnovers uncharacteristic for team at crunch time.
Sunday's game with New York matched the two teams with the best records in the WNBA, it was an intense game, with both teams playing very hard.
And the Lynx, within two points with 2 ½ minutes left, had chance after chance to take this game. Instead, they gave it away, turning the ball over four times in their final five possessions.
That means they still either have to win one more game or have Phoenix lose one to clinch the Western Conference title.
Here are some final thoughts on the game:
--Lost in the offensive malfunction down the stretch was some pretty good Lynx defense. Still, the Lynx never used to lose games like this, especially at home. They needed Augustus' ability to create her own shot, and Whalen's ability to keep her head when things are going badly. Fans should hope they're ready for the playoffs.
--With the injuries and with backup center Asjha Jones apparently not doing enough to get minutes, the Lynx played just seven players tonight. Minnesota's bench was out-scored 21-3.
--Fowles came one rebound away from her sixth straight double-double.
--Rebekkah Brunson made all three of her shots and rebounded well, but she needs to look for that mid-range jumper more with teams concentrating on Fowles down low.
That's about it for now. I'll get back to you Tuesday.
