Ross, 30, was driving west in the eastbound lanes of I-394 around 3:30 a.m. when he collided with an eastbound vehicle at Wirth Parkway. Ross was pronounced dead at the scene, the State Patrol said.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle, Carlos Floersch, 46, of Apple Valley, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center "with significant but survivable injuries," said Lt. Tiffani Nielson.
Authorities shut down the freeway for about three hours following the wreck. It was not immediately known where Ross got on I-394 or how long he'd been traveling in the wrong lane, a patrol spokeswoman said.
