Star Tribune Media Co. invites readers, advertisers and fans to join in marking the milestone of 150 years in publication. We hope you'll celebrate with us at these summer anniversary events:
Unveiling of Star Tribune globe
11 a.m. May 25
A 6-foot, 300-pound, hand-painted masterpiece commissioned in 1951 graced the former Star Tribune Building. Feared lost during a building renovation decades ago, the globe was recently rediscovered and restored. It will be on permanent display in the lobby of the new Star Tribune Building, 650 3rd Ave S., Minneapolis. Join us at the dedication with Editor Rene Sanchez, Minnesota Newspaper Association Executive Director Lisa Hills and Minneapolis City Council President Barbara Johnson, who will proclaim May 25 "Star Tribune Day" in Minneapolis.
Display of rare first edition
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 25
Also on display in the lobby of the Star Tribune Building: a recently restored first edition of the Minneapolis Daily Tribune from May 25, 1867. Only two copies are known to exist. On May 25, the Star Tribune will be wrapped with a reproduction of the first front page.
Light the skyline
May 25
Local landmarks will be lighted in Star Tribune's signature green from dusk to dawn: Target Field, U.S. Bank Stadium, Target headquarters, Capella Tower, the I-35W bridge and the Lowry Avenue Bridge.
Public celebration at Fulton Taproom
May 25
Fulton Taproom, 414 N. 6th Ave, Minneapolis, opens in the evening for a taste of commemorative EXTRA! EXTRA! American Pale Ale. The beer will be available from retailers on May 26.

A note from Mike Klingensmith, publisher and CEO of the Star Tribune:
"Very few institutions survive and thrive for 150 years. Fewer still have the lasting impact on civic life that the Star Tribune has had. As proud as we are about a century and a half of great journalism and the opportunity to serve our community and state, these celebrations are really about our readers. Year after year, it's been our privilege to be there all day, every day with the very best news and information we can possibly deliver. We're also grateful to our advertisers for the support they give us every step of the way and without whom we wouldn't be here today. We celebrate this great milestone with tremendous gratitude and tremendous optimism for the future, as well."
