Semi driver dies in crash in west-central Minnesota

The rollover wreck occurred roughly 5 miles north of Appleton.

A semitrailer truck driver veered off a west-central Minnesota highway, crashed and died, authorities said.

The rollover wreck occurred roughly 5 miles north of Appleton along eastbound Hwy. 12 about 9 a.m. Monday, the State Patrol said.

The driver was identified as Douglas J. Anderson, 72, of Boyd, Minn.

Emergency medical responders took Anderson to a hospital in Appleton, where he died.

The patrol has yet to disclose what led to the truck going off the highway and into a ditch.
