Four players on the Gophers made one of the Big Ten women's soccer all-conference teams announced Friday, including forward Sydney Squires, who was a first-team pick.

Midfielder Molly Fiedler and defender Tori Burnett made the second team; forward April Bockin made the third.

Squires, a senior from Hudson, Wis., led the Gophers with 14 goals, five of them game-winners.

The Gophers, who tied for second place in the conference standings, will host Wisconsin at 1 p.m. in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals. The Badgers beat Minnesota 1-0 in overtime in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 16.

U faces No. 1 Badgers

The No. 6 Gophers women's hockey team will play No. 1 Wisconsin at 4 p.m. Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday at Ridder Arena.

Minnesota was 1-1-2 against the Badgers last season. The teams split a series in Madison, Wis., last December before tying 1-1 and 0-0 in overtime games at Ridder in February.

Wisconsin (10-0, 4-0 WCHA) is coming off a 5-1, 5-1 home sweep of Bemidji State. The Gophers (5-2-1, 4-1-1) beat Minnesota Duluth 4-1 and 2-1 at Amsoil Arena last weekend.

Forward Caitlin Reilly and defenseman Sydney Baldwin, both seniors, are tied for the Gophers' team lead in points with 10 apiece.

Reilly has six goals and four assists, Baldwin has one goal and nine assists.

The Badgers are led by sophomore forward Abby Roque, who has four goals and 10 assists, and sophomore goalie Kristen Campbell, who has a 0.90 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage.

• The Gophers women's golf team was in ninth place after the first round of the Louisville Ladies Fall Invitational in Atlanta. Gophers freshman Grace Kellar tied for 13th with a 4-over 76.

• The No. 5 Gophers volleyball team (20-2, 9-2) plays at Rutgers (5-18, 0-11) at 6 p.m. Saturday.

• Iowa defeated the visiting Gophers 162-138 in men's swimming, but Minnesota's women's team won its dual with the Hawkeyes 190-109.

• No. 18 St. Thomas (23-5, 9-1 MIAC), which defeated Hamline 3-0 in volleyball Wednesday to clinch at least a share of the MIAC title, play its final regular-season match at St. Catherine at 3 p.m. Saturday.

• The Northern State men's basketball team was selected by NSIC overall and North Division favorite in a preseason conference coaches poll. Southwest Minnesota State was second and Augustana third.

• Gustavus Adolphus, third in the NCAA Division III women's hockey tournament last season, was picked as the MIAC favorite in a conference coaches' preseason polls.

• Augsburg received six first-place votes and 62 points for the top spot in the MIAC men's hockey preseason coaches' poll.
