When we checked Flip Saunders' Wikipedia page at around 8:45 a.m. this morning, there was nothing unusual or funny about the opening paragraph:

Phillip "Flip" Saunders (born February 23, 1955) is an American basketball head coach of the Washington Wizards. He previously coached the Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to a well-placed source, though, as of about two hours before that, it read like this:

Phillip "Flip" Saunders (born February 23, 1955) is an American basketball head coach of the Washington Wizards. He previously coached the Detroit Pistons and the Minnesota Timberwolves. On March 23, 2011, he was outcoached by Vinny Del Negro.

That was an obvious reference to Flip's team, the Wizards, falling in double overtime last night to Del Negro's Clippers. The Wizards are now 1-33 in road games this season and -- if you can believe this -- have only a slightly better overall record than the Timberwolves (17-53 compared to 17-54).

The more you know.

UPDATE: As many of you pointed out in the comments, the Wiki shenanigans were in response to a Bill Simmons tweet, which perhaps makes it even funnier.

The more WE know.
