Trent Frederic, Wisconsin's first line center, scored the first and final goals of the game and had an assist, as the Badgers beat host Michigan State 6-3 on Friday night in Big Ten hockey to remain tied for first place with the Gophers.

"They should feel good about themselves," Badgers coach Tony Granato said, referring to his players. "We did a lot of things, they scored five goals and we made plays when we had to. I felt the first two periods we played really solid defensively."

The No. 18 Badgers (14-8-1, 7-2) took a 3-0 lead into the second period. And Aidan Cavallini's goal at 6:11 of the second made it 4-0 Wisconsin and proved to be the game-winner.

Patrick Khodorenko had two goals for the Spartans.

Michigan 5, Ohio State 4: The Wolverines built a 5-1 lead and held on to upset the No. 11 Buckeyes in Ann Arbor. Michigan's Cooper Marody scored his first three goals of the season. Two came on power plays.

Minnesota Duluth 2, Omaha 2 (OT): Dominic Toninato scored two goals for No. 1 UMD (17-5-5, 11-4-2-2 NCHC) but the Bulldogs had to settle for a tie with the Mavericks (14-10-5, 7-8-2) after a scoreless overtime. Omaha's Ian Brady tied the score at 2-all with the only goal of the third period at 1:32. Evan Weninger had 37 saves for the Mavericks, Hunter Miska 23 for the Bulldogs. UMD won the shootout on Alex Iafallo's goal for the extra point in the conference standings.

St. Cloud State 3, North Dakota 1: Jacob Benson scored in the first period and Jimmy Schuldt in the second as the visiting Huskies took a 2-0 lead en route to an upset of the No. 13 Fighting Hawks.

Bemidji State 4, Michigan Tech 2: Mike Soucier had two goals, including the tying one, as the host Beavers rallied to beat the No. 20 Huskies.
