St. Cloud – The Gophers fired 55 shots on net — their second-highest total of the season — in routing St. Cloud State 5-0 on Saturday afternoon to sweep the WCHA series at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Minnesota won the opener 2-1 and now has 34 consecutive wins over the Huskies, gong back to 2010.

"Everybody played and got significant minutes," Gophers coach Brad Frost said. "… Our players that play a lot really encourage those [reserve] guys when they got out there [and that] was really special to see. Really enjoyable game here. We just played tremendously well, so excited about that."

Five different players scored for the No. 4 Gophers (19-5-3, 15-4-3-2 WCHA) and Sidney Peters made 12 saves for her sixth shutout this season. Madeleine Dahl had 50 stops for the Huskies (7-18-3, 5-15-2-2).

Sarah Potomak, Taylor Williamson and Nicole Schammel scored in the first 12 minutes of the second period to give the Gophers a 3-0 lead. Defenseman Lee Stecklein, who also had two assists, and Tianna Gunderson scored goals in the first seven minutes of the third.

"It was amazing," Gunderson said of scoring her first career goal. "I've kind of been struggling with getting that first one in, but I was trying to take it shift by shift."

Junior Kelly Pannek got an assist on Potomak's goal to extend her point streak to 24 games.
