Their chance to make program history
Preview: The Gophers (19-7, 7-6 Big Ten) have a chance to set the record for the biggest one-year turnaround in program history with a victory Sunday. That would be a 12-win difference from last season's 8-23 record. They have won four consecutive Big Ten games for the first time since 2010-11. They haven't won five consecutive conference regular-season games since the vacated 1996-97 Big Ten championship season; officially, their last five-game Big Ten winning streak was in 1977-78. The Wolverines (17-9, 7-6) are on a three-game win streak, which included a 64-58 home victory Thursday over No. 11 Wisconsin. But they have a 1-6 road record this season.
Players to watch: Junior G Nate Mason scored 30 points in Wednesday's 75-74 home victory over Indiana. Mason is the first Gophers player to have multiple 30-point games (also had 31 points in the overtime win at Purdue) in a season since Vincent Grier in 2004-05. Michigan 6-foot-11 C Moritz Wagner is averaging 17 points and 6.3 rebounds in his past three games, including a 21-point performance against the Badgers.
Numbers: The Gophers' longest current Big Ten losing streak is to Michigan, with nine consecutive losses. The Gophers haven't beaten the Wolverines since a 69-64 win Jan. 22, 2011, in Ann Arbor.
