Sara Groenewegen pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 10 in leading the Gophers softball team to an 8-0, five-inning victory over Northwestern on Sunday at Cowles Stadium.

The victory completed a three-game series sweep for the sixth-ranked Gophers (38-3, 11-1 Big Ten), who took over sole possession of first place in the conference standings, a half-game ahead of Michigan (11-2 Big Ten).

Groenewegen went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Kendyl Lindaman drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double in the second inning, which boosted the Gophers' lead to 7-0.

Northwestern fell to 16-23 and 3-9.

Hoosiers blank U, take two of three in baseball

Paul Milty and Tim Herrin combined on a four-hitter for Indiana in a 4-0 victory over the Gophers baseball team in Bloomington, Ind.

Milty allowed three hits in six innings and Herrin allowed one in three innings for the Hoosiers (19-14-2, 6-5-1 Big Ten), who won two of three in the series. Logan Sowers hit a three-run homer that highlighted a four-run fifth inning.

Jordan Kozicky had two hits for the Gophers (21-10, 7-2), who remained in first place in the Big Ten standings by percentage points over Maryland (24-11, 9-3).

Vujic leads Gophers women's tennis win

Senior captain Maja Vujic secured the clinching victory as the Gophers women's tennis team beat Indiana 5-2 on Senior Day at the Baseline Tennis Center.

Minnesota (13-10, 5-3 Big Ten) also got singles victories from Caroline Ryba, Tina Kreinis, Camila Vargas Gomez and Caitlyn Merzbacher.

• The Gophers men's tennis team lost 5-2 to Penn State in its final road match of the season. Felix Corwin and Marino Alpeza earned singles victories for Minnesota (15-9, 4-5 Big Ten).

U golf takes 11th in Iowa

The Gophers men's golf team finished 11th in the 14-team Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City.

Minnesota's Runar Arnorsson, playing as an individual, finished in a tie for 21st at 2-over-par 218. The Gophers' top finisher in the team competition was Riley Johnson, who tied for 38th at 6 over.

Texas Tech won the team title, and Iowa State's Nick Voke was medalist at 9 under.

• The Gophers women's golf team finished 10th in the 12-team Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. Heather Ciskowski tied for 24th at 15-over 231.

Michigan State edged Texas by a stroke for the team title. The Longhorns' Sophia Schubert was medalist at 3-under 213.
