The University of Minnesota first announced a multimillion-dollar deal with 3M on Monday morning that will include a new name for the Gophers men's hockey home: 3M Arena at Mariucci.
At a news conference later in the day, the school unveiled artist renderings of the arena's exterior, showing how the school envisions the signage changing with the building's new name. As you can see from the artwork, the '3M Arena' wording is expected to get the larger play, but the legendary hockey name of Mariucci still remains.
The changes to the hockey arena will come in the wake of the 14-year, $11.2 million sponsorship agreement between the Gophers and 3M.
