Olivia Knowles scored two goals, including the game-winner on a power play in overtime, and Sophie Skarzynski recorded her second consecutive three-assist game for the No. 6 Gophers in a 4-3 women's hockey victory over Lindenwood on Sunday in Wentzville, Mo.

The Gophers (13-4-1, 8-3-1-0 WCHA) got first-period goals from Sydney Baldwin and Cara Piazza while amassing 23-first-period shots in taking the early two-goal lead.

But the Lions tied it in the second period on goals by Cierra Paisley and the first of two goals by sophomore Taylor Girard.

Knowles' first goal gave Minnesota the lead later in the second period, but Girard forced overtime when she beat Gophers goalie Alex Gulstene on a penalty shot at 6:21 of the third.

The Gophers entered the extra period on a power play after Lindenwood's Mariah Hinds earned a two-minute penalty with 10 seconds left in regulation, and Knowles, a freshman defenseman, scored on their first shot.

Minnesota outshot Lindenwood 47-18.

"They just showed great resiliency tonight and found a way to get that one in overtime," Gophers coach Brad Frost said. "I'm really happy with the sweep. Getting back to conference play here next weekend will be a great challenge for us but we're looking forward to it."

Minnesota improved to 10-0-0 on the road with the nonconference sweep, and extended its winning streak to eight. The Gophers will be host to Bemidji State this weekend.
