Holy Angels took control early and never let go in a 20-8 victory over Rocori in the Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals Friday at Husky Stadium at St. Cloud State.

The Stars forced a three-and-out and took advantage of a short punt with a 1-yard touchdown run by Rook Rowe.

Joseph Heimbold added to the Stars' lead when he found the corner on a keeper to score from three yards out with 24 seconds before halftime to make it a 13-0 lead at the break. He extended the lead to 20-0 in the third quarter with a 41-yard touchdown pass to John Kosmach.

Cloquet 36, Becker 21: The Lumberjacks scored the game's final 16 points after the Bulldogs rallied to take a second-half lead at St. Cloud State. Cloquet led 20-7 at halftime before Becker got two third-quarter TDs, one on a 1-yard run from Alex Blomgren and the other on a 10-yard pass Josh Fobbe to Lucas Dertinger, their second TD connection of the game. But Cloquet responded with an 8-yard TD run by Tim Pokornowski and a 12-yarder from Spencer Wehr.

Class 2A

Moose Lake/Willow River 41, West Central 14: Colton Little ran 53 yards for a score on the first play from scrimmage and finished with 291 yards and five TDs as the Rebels beat the Knights in Brainerd. Little also scored on runs of 81, 43, 16 and 16 yards.

Pipestone 19, Blue Earth 12: The Arrows scored 13 fourth-quarter points to defeat the Buccaneers at New Ulm. Jordan Baatz put the Arrows ahead for good on a 7-yard touchdown.
