Not a whole lot of drama this afternoon at the X. The most tense it got around here was when a shy results runner cautiously walked up to Minnesota Wild defenseman Brent Burns - who peeked in on the action after returning from practice at St. Thomas Arena - and asked if he would pose for a picture with her. The All-Star happily obliged.

OK - so there was SOME action, of course. The loudest it got was when Forest Lake's Ben Morgan came thisclose to pinning Apple Valley's Mark Hall in the first period of their Class 3A 130-pound semifinal. That gave Morgan a 5-0 lead, but Hall - a seventh grader ranked No. 1 in the state and as high as 13th nationally by one publication - rallied for an 8-6 win in sudden victory overtime.

Some fans actually booed afterwards, some because they felt Morgan had executed a pin (and it was very close) and some because Hall - who moved here by way of Michigan and Kentucky - just simply rubs people the wrong way for coming here. One person yelled "GO BACK TO MICHIGAN" after Hall won. It got a laugh.

Other than that, not too much to note. No major upsets, no real drama like I said.

There was a scary moment in the Class 2A, 130-pound consolation round when Simley's Mack Short was knocked unconscious after hitting his head on the mat. Paramedics were called, and Short, a freshman, was taken off on a stretcher. I caught up with Will Short - Mack's dad and the Spartan's head coach - a little while later and he assured me everything was OK. He said Mack wanted to walk off the mat after coming to, but trainers put the kibosh on that pretty quick.

Amelia Rayno and I will have you covered tonight for the championships. I'll be tweeting updates every now and again, so go ahead and give me a follow @stensation.
