The woes for former Lions receiver Charles Rogers continued today when he was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and not having a valid driver's license.

Here are some highlights from the Detroit Free Press article:

. Rogers, who has admitted having drug problems, was found unresponsive behind the wheel of a 2003 Mercedes in Novi on Wednesday afternoon. He was charged this morning with operating while intoxicated and not having a valid driver's license — both misdemeanors that carry the penalty of 93 days in jail upon conviction.

. Police were called to Eight Mile and Meadowbrook roads at about 2 p.m. They found the 28-year-old Rogers in the car, which was facing south on Meadowbrook in the left turn lane. The engine was running and the car was in gear but Rogers didn't respond to requests to open the door. Authorities got into the car through the sunroof. They smelled liquor on Rogers' breath and he failed sobriety tests.

. He refused to take a breathalyzer test and his blood was drawn after a judge signed a warrant. That blood sample will be tested in the coming weeks by the Michigan State Police to determine his blood-alcohol level.

Meanwhile, off the police blotter and back on the field, it seems the Lions actually have a chance of selling out a game that features a team with an 18-game losing streak. The Lions were given a 24-hour extension to 1 p.m. Friday to sell their remaining 2,300 tickets for Sunday's game against the Vikings at Ford Field.
