One of the Twin Cities' largest law firms has moved into a new space in downtown Minneapolis.
Stinson Leonard Street LLP opened its new offices Monday relocating nearly 320 attorneys and staff members from the Fifth Street Towers to the Fifty South Sixth building on Nicollet Mall.
"Today is a significant day for both the history and future of our law firm," said Mark Hinderks, Stinson's managing partner, in a statement. "Our Minneapolis office is staying downtown, where it's been for 95 years, and it is a superb example of beautiful, intelligent design. The upgrades we have made in construction, technology and footprint flexibility will translate to an energizing, more collaborative work environment and even better client service."
The law firm signed a 16-year lease for about 108,000 square feet of space on floors 22, 24, 25 and 26. The new office includes a conference center and employee café among other features.
Stinson had been a long-term tenant of the Fifth Street Towers, which last week had its grand opening after a multimillion-dollar renovation. The 29-story Fifty South Sixth tower also was recently renovated. Stinson has reduced its footprint by about 22,000 square feet, a continuing trend for law firms and other traditional office tenants that are looking for greater efficiencies in consolidated space.
Gensler Minneapolis led the design of the new space with Gardner Builders leading the construction. Minneapolis real estate brokerage NTH represented Stinson in the leasing.
The Birds Eye plant recruited workers without providing all the job details Minnesota law requires.
