Teen in SUV disobeys stop sign, hits and kills car's driver in western Wis.

The crash occurred midafternoon Saturday near Grantsburg.

A teenager driving an SUV disobeyed a stop sign at a western Wisconsin intersection, and hit and killed a motorist, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 3:40 p.m. Saturday east of Grantsburg, the Burnett County Sheriff's Office said.

Along with the 49-year-old man dying, the SUV driver and her passenger were injured, the Sheriff's Office added.

According to authorities:

The teen was heading east on County Road Y, "failed to stop at the stop sign" at Crosstown Road and struck the man's northbound car, a statement from the Sheriff's Office read.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old girl driving the SUV and the 16-year-old boy with her were injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The severity of their injuries was not disclosed.

Identities of the vehicles' occupants have yet to be released.
