The Revolution reunion will take place in September at, most appropriately, First Avenue.

Prince's backup band from his 1980s heyday will reunite to perform Sept. 2-3 at First Avenue, where Prince and the Revolution filmed "Purple Rain."

Participating will be Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z, Matt Fink and Brownmark along with special guests Dez Dickerson and Andre Cymone, both former Prince sidemen in the pre-Revolution days.

In a statement, the Revolution said: "Only by playing for you, the fans, can we be Prince's Revolution. He gives Us 2 oneanother now, as we all start to heal and fill forever emptiness with sound. 2gether we are The Revolution."

Tickets, priced at $65 for general admission and $99 for VIP, will go on sale at 11 a.m. Friday at First Avenue outlets including etix.com and 800-514-3849.
